Dancing Manne
Happy to announce that Dancing Manne is a part of Ext. Asi Archive for Singapore Biennale 2022!
Dancing Manne is an exploration of the idea of how humans are just mannequins in this modern world; a puppet.
Suggestible, compliant, easily influenced.
man·ne·quin
/ˈmanəkən/
Mannequins in this project are interpreted as humanoid forms in a futuristic setting.
No longer looking at their gender or looks, everything is the same, no discrimination. Your thoughts, religions, race, identity; nothing matters. You are an empty shell. Strung up, controlled by the greater power that is the government.
The dance itself is represented by stiff movements, awkward gestures, weird body movements and finally then digitally glitched up live in such a way to express the emotional instability and the loss of humanity towards human expression in a world full of technology.
This is a criticism of the idea that freedom is no longer what it is supposed to be, and that we don't have any more breathing room in this world.
